In the evening, you'll head to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Camp Bastian Mikumi.
Breakfast at the camp. Drive to Nyerere National Park. Picnic lunch. Evening game viewing drive en route to lodge. Nyerere National Park (formally known as the Selous National Park) is Africa's largest game reserve covering over 50,000 square km, yet it remains one of Tanzania’s least-known reserves and the numbers of visitors to Nyerere are much lower than the northern parks. The rivers and lakes of Nyerere host some phenomenal game, including the largest hippos, crocodiles, and hippo populations in Africa. Along the banks of the Rufiji River, you’ll find large herds of elephants, especially in the dry season (June to November) and you can also expect to see good numbers of buffalos, giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, wildebeest, baboons, hyenas, lions and leopards, and endangered African wild dogs. As the Nyerere National Park was formerly a game reserve your guide can go off-road in your safari vehicle and you can get much closer to wildlife encounters than where you are restricted to the roads. As well as morning and afternoon game drives, you can also enjoy bush walks and boat safaris. Dinner and overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
Today, you will have breakfast at the camp and then go on a game viewing drive. Nyerere Park boasts the largest concentration of wild animals and a rich collection of wildlife that is abundant and diverse. The fact that this park is new and largely less frequented by tourists means that the animals here tend to be less exposed to humans. A good number of big cats, such as lion, leopard, and cheetah, are to be found here, along with other large animals such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, eland, zebra, wildebeest and other wildlife. Later afternoon proceed on a boat safari. Dinner and overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
You will begin your day an early morning walking safari with a wild ranger with a gun and a walking expert guide. Later you’ll proceed on a game viewing drive. As the sun rises, the park comes to life with opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and leopards. Your guide will share insights into the park’s diverse ecosystem, enhancing your safari experience. After game driving, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge in Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous) and begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam. Enjoy the scenic journey through the Tanzanian countryside as you make your way to the city for drop-off at your preferred location.
